Description

Rev. Burke's Father served as the pastor of the “American Church” in Caracas, Venezuela. Her parents were serving a special appointment with the US Council of Churches that filled pulpits across the world. Rev. Marta was born while her parents were serving in Venezuela and was there until three years old. She was cared for by those in the community and Spanish was her first language. As a teen and young adult, she remembers reunions and she served on the World Methodist Council, the Board of Higher Education of the UMC, and later with Witness for Peace.
